dc.description.abstractThis thesis deals with the development of an application that automatically translates text from photographs. The project is separated into an Android application that allows the user to take a picture containing text. The image is sent to a remote server that recognizes the characters in it, translates it to another language and sends the text back to the user. In addition we give a basic introduction to the optical character recognition and automatic translation technologies, as well as the capabilities of the Android operating system and the Java Servlet technology.en
