Ηχογράφηση και επεξεργασία, ψηφιακή και αναλογική, σε χώρο ηχοληψίας.

Abstract

Ο σκοπός της πτυχιακής αυτής είναι να παρουσιάσει την διαδικασία ηχογράφησης, ίξης και mastering ενός τραγουδιού. Πριν την αναλυτική παρουσίαση της διαδικασίας αυτής γίνεται εκτενής αναφορά σε όλο το θεωρητικό υπόβαθρο που απαιτείται για να πορέσει κάποιoς να κατανοήσει πλήρως την διαδικασία αυτή. Ξεκινάε, στο πρώτο κεφάλαιο, ε βασικές θεωρητικές γνώσεις που αφορούν την ακουστική φυσική και παρουσιάζονται όλα τα φαινόενα που προκύπτουν από τη διάδοση του ήχου σε η ελεύθερα πεδία. Στη συνέχεια, στο δεύτερο κεφάλαιο, προχωράε στα δύo σηαντικότερα εργαλεία του ηχολήπτη, τα οποία είναι τα ικρόφωνα και τα ηχεία. Μετά, στο τρίτο κεφάλαιο, παρουσιάζεται αναλυτικά η κονσόλα που χρησιοποιήσαε κατά την ηχογράφηση και ίξη αυτού του τραγουδιού. Συνεχίζοντας, στο τέταρτο κεφάλαιο, γίνεται αναφορά στον στερεοφωνικό ήχο, στις στερεοφωνικές τεχνικές ηχογράφησης και στην ηχογράφηση drums, όπου είναι το πρώτο σκέλος της διαδικασίας ηχογράφησης ενός τραγουδιού αφού είναι η «ραχοκοκαλιά» του ρυθικού έρους του τραγουδιού. Μετά, στο πέπτο κεφάλαιο, γίνεται εκτενής αναφορά στον πολυκάναλο surround ήχο και παρουσιάζονται τα δύο επικρατέστερα surround format, δηλαδή τα: Super Audio CD και DVD-Audio. Τέλος, στο τελευταίο κεφάλαιο, βλέπουε πλέον τα ακριβή βήατα που ακολουθήθηκαν κατά τη διαδικασία ηχογράφησης, ίξης και mastering αυτού του τραγουδιού. Στην πτυχιακή αυτή περιλαβάνεται και ένα Audio CD όπου έχουν καταγραφεί τα στάδια τα οποία πέρασε το τραγούδι αυτό, από την demo ορφή του έως το τελικό αποτέλεσα ετά το mastering.

The purpose of this dissertation is to present the procedure of recording, mixing and mastering a song. Before the analytical presentation of this procedure, there is an expansive reference to the theoretical background that’s required in order for someone to fully understand this procedure. We begin, in the first chapter, with the basic theoretical knowledge that concerns the domain of acoustical physics and we present all the phenomena that derive from acoustical wave propagation in non-open space. We continue, in the second chapter, by analyzing the two most important tools of the sound engineer, which are microphones and speakers. Later, in the third chapter, there’s an analytical presentation of the console that was used during the recording and mixing process of this song. Continuing, in the forth chapter, we study stereophonic sound reproduction, stereophonic sound recording techniques and drum recording techniques, which is the first thing that gets recorded in a session, being the «backbone» of the rhythm section of the song. Later, in the fifth chapter, there’s an extensive presentation of multichannel surround sound and it’s most predominant formats Super Audio CD and DVD-Audio. Lastly, in the last chapter,we witness the exact steps taken during the recording process, mixing and mastering of this song. There is also an Audio CD included in this dissertation that documents the gradual completion of the song, from it’s demo form to the final result post mastering.
