Ασύγχρονη πλατφόρμα εκπαίδευσης.

Abstract

Σε αυτή την πτυχιακή εργασία σκοπός μας είναι η διερεύνηση την καλύτερης δυνατής λύσης τόσο στο θεωρητικό όσο και τεχνολογικό κομμάτι, η υλοποίηση, η εγκατάσταση και δοκιμαστική λειτουργία ενός λογισμικού εφαρμογών ώστε το εκπαιδευτικό ίδρυμα αλλά και το τμήμα στο οποίο ανήκουμε να αποκτήσει ένα πλήρως εξοπλισμένο σύστημα ασύγχρονης ηλεκτρονικής μάθησης ικανό να επιτελέσει το δύσκολο έργο τόσο της ενημέρωσης αλλά και της υποβοήθησης της εκπαιδευτικής διαδικασίας με πολλές διαφορετικές εξειδικευμένες μεθόδους και εργαλεία που εφαρμόζονται με επιτυχία ολοένα και περισσότερο στην σύγχρονη εποχή. Περισσότερες πληροφορίες σχετικά με το τι ακριβώς απαιτείται να αναπτυχθεί , να εγκατασταθεί αλλά και να συνεργαστεί σωστά με το σύστημά μας θα διερευνηθούν διεξοδικά τόσο στον πρόλογο του παρόντος συγγράμματος όσο και σε μετέπειτα κεφάλαια. Αυτό το κείμενο είναι μια περίληψη του αρχικού κειμένου της πτυχιακής που υπάρχει διαθέσιμο στο ανεπτυγμένο λογισμικό και είναι διαθέσιμο ελεύθερα. Το αρχικό κείμενο της πτυχιακής αποτελούνταν απο τέσσερα(4) κεφάλαια και δύο(2) παραρτήματα που επεξηγούσαν λεπτομερέστερα όλα όσα γράφονται εδώ. Το παρόν κείμενο επιδιώκει να μην κουράσει τους αναγνώστες του αλλά να έχει παράλληλα νοηματική και πρακτική ακολουθία σχετικά με όσα συνέβησαν κατά την διάρκεια της πτυχιακής μας. This text is analyzing the theoretical and practical aspects of E-learning in general, Learning theories, what the international and Greek experience have to show so far, and computer software practices, methods and characteristics for e-learning software. We created a method of evaluating and comparing e-learning software, and applied it among many open source software under the General Public License (GPL).We decided to choose one of them to extend it and use it for the purposes of Technological Education Institute of Crete and in particular the Applied Informatics and Multimedia Department. The Web Based E-learning Platform was based on the Open-Source Learning Management System software named Moodle. Code modifications and additions have taken place ; we developed many new themes, modules and blocks to make easier the transition from the old website to the new one. Moreover many tools were added, useful for asynchronous and synchronous communication between the users of the platform ; Teachers , Students , Technical and administration office stuff. The system was Setup and Integrated inside the Department to promote the operation of the software within the established network environment making use of existing commercial or free software. We created and established the Greek community for Localizing, Supporting and Promoting Moodle, contributing back to the community all of our work. Help manuals were created for each of the system users. We also mention the advantages of choosing Open source software from the aspect of code reuse, and software evolution. Finally a Linux based Live computer bootable cd-rom was created to summarize our work and demonstrate the abilities of the software. This cd-rom contains and makes use of open-source software only, to support the platform including the Apache web server, the Mysql database server, the CronTab scheduled tasks Server and the Firefox web browser.
