Δήμος Σητείας ένας τουριστικά αναπτυσσόμενος προορισμός.

Abstract

Σε αυτήν την πτυχιακή εργασία θα γίνει μια προσπάθεια παρουσίασης του δήμου της Σητείας ως τουριστικός προορισμός. Στην πρώτη ενότητα γίνεται μια αναφορά στην ιστορική αναδρομή του τουρισμού και στις επιδράσεις του στην οικονομία, την κοινωνία και το φυσικό περιβάλλον. Στην δεύτερη ενότητα γίνεται μια παρουσίαση των φυσικών χαρακτηριστικών της περιοχής του δήμου καθώς περιγράφεται και η τουριστική υποδομή της περιοχή. Στην τρίτη ενότητα αναλύονται οι εναλλακτικές μορφές τουρισμού που θα μπορούσαν να αξιοποιηθούν και να δημιουργήσουν νέες τάσεις τουριστικής ανάπτυξης στο δήμο. Τέλος στην τέταρτη ενότητα γίνεται μια προσπάθεια παρουσίασης προτάσεων – τρόπων που θα μπορούσαν να έχουν σαν αποτέλεσμα την τουριστική ανάπτυξη του δήμου.

This essay attempts to approach the municipal area of Sitia as a destination for tourists. The first section is a reference to the historical background of tourism and its effects on the economy, society and the natural environment. In the second section the natural characteristics of the area are presented, namely its geographical location, topography, climate, beaches, islands, caves, gorges, places of interest, flora and fauna, as well as information on entertainment, customs and the area’s current infrastructure for tourists. The third section discusses alternative forms of tourism such as agritourism and sports, marine, nature, cultural, conference, education, therapeutic and religious tourism, which could be exploited to create new trends in tourism development in the municipality. Finally, in the fourth section an attempt is made to present new proposals and ways that could eventually promote touristic development in this area. The Municipality of Sitia, with its unique natural environment and cultural elements may well entail all the primary characteristics and requirements to eventually become a developing and popular destination. What is in fact needed to achieve this is the support of all competent authorities.
