dc.description.abstractΗ θαλασσαιμία ως η συνηθέστερη γενετική διαταραχή παγκοσμίως θεωρείται σοβαρό πρόβλημα σε θέματα δημόσιας υγείας στην περιοχή της Μεσογείου. Για τέτοιες χρόνιες καταστάσεις, είναι σημαντική η επιβίωση αλλά και η ποιότητα ζωής τους (QOL) που καθοδηγείται κυρίως από την ψυχολογικούς και κοινωνικούς περιορισμούς. Σκοπός λοιπόν της μελέτης αυτής είναι να εξετάσει διάφορους παράγοντες που επηρεάζουν την ψυχολογική επιβάρυνση ,με έμφαση στα επίπεδα άγχους και κατάθλιψης, αλλά και την ποιότητα ζωής (QOL) των ατόμων που πάσχουν από θαλασσαιμίες στην Ελλάδα. Για τη διεξαγωγή της έρευνας αυτής σχεδιάστηκε μια συγχρονική μελέτη (cross­sectional study και η μέθοδος δειγματοληψίας που ακολουθήθηκε ήταν η σκόπιμη δειγματοληψία. Πληθυσμός της μελέτης αποτέλεσε κάθε άτομο που πάσχει από θαλασσαιμία και κατοικεί στην Ελλάδα.. Η συλλογή δεδομένων πραγματοποιήθηκε στα: α) Μονάδα Μεσογειακής Αναιμίας, Βενιζέλειο Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Ηρακλείου, β) Μονάδα Μεσογειακής Αναιμίας, Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Χανίων, γ) μέσω ανάρτησης του ερωτηματολογίου σε μορφή «Google form». Το τελικό δείγμα ήταν 119 ασθενείς με θαλασσαιμία. Εργαλεία της μελέτης αποτέλεσαν το δομημένο ερωτηματολόγιο EQ-5D3s (EyroQol) και η δομημένη και σταθμισμένη στα Ελληνικά κλίμακα HADS. Η συλλογή των δεδομένων έγινε με φυσική παρουσία των ερευνητριών στις μονάδες μετάγγισης σε Ηράκλειο και Χανιά αντίστοιχα. Ενώ υπήρξε επικοινωνία με την Ελληνική Ομοσπονδία Θαλασσαιμίας και ηλεκτρονική αποστολή των ερωτηματολογίων στην υπόλοιπη Ελλάδα. Το δείγμα σε ποσοστό 52% αποτελούταν από γυναίκες, η μέση ηλικία ήταν 39,7 (8,5) έτη με μεγαλύτερο ποσοστό στην ηλικία μεταξύ των 41-50 ετών (46,2%). Οι συμμετέχοντες στην πλειοψηφία τους παρουσίαζαν φυσιολογικά επίπεδα άγχους και κατάθλιψης. Κατά την απεικόνιση της κατάστασης της υγείας τους στον Δείκτη EQvas («Κατάσταση της υγείας» ή «Θερμόμετρο») παρατηρείτε ότι το μεγαλύτερο ποσοστό θεωρεί ότι έχει καλή ποιότητα ζωής. Ενώ κατά τη συσχέτιση άγχους και ποιότητας ζωής προκύπτει ότι η συμπτωματολογία άγχους σχετίζετε σημαντικά με χειρότερη ποιότητα ζωής καθώς σχετίζεται με τα μειωμένα επίπεδα του δείκτη ποιότητας ζωής EQ-5D3S.Επίσης σημαντική η συσχέτιση μεταξύ άγχους και Δείκτη Μάζας Σώματος (ΔΜΣ) παρά το γεγονός ότι οι θαλασσαιμικοί στην πλειοψηφία τους έχουν φυσιολογικό ΔΜΣ. Διαπιστώθηκε ότι σε γενικές γραμμές, οι ασθενείς αυτοί έχουν πλέον μια σχεδόν φυσιολογική ζωή που πλησιάζει κατά πολύ τα αντίστοιχα δεδομένα του γενικού πληθυσμού , παρουσιάζουν υψηλή αυτοαντίληψη της ποιότητας ζωής τους, καθώς και χαμηλά επίπεδα άγχους και κατάθλιψης.el
dc.description.abstractThalassemia is one of the most common genetic disorders and therefore considered to be a serious issue as far as public health is concerned in the region of the Mediterranean. In such chronic conditions survival and quality of life (QOL) of the patients are of the utmost importance and are influenced by psychological and social restrains. The aim of this study is to examine various factors affecting the psychological burden, focusing on anxiety and depression levels, as well as the quality of life (QOL) of the people suffering from thalassemia in Greece. For the purpose of this study a cross-sectional study was designed, and the sampling method employed was purposeful sampling. The study group was comprised of every person suffering from thalassemia and residing in Greece Data sampling was carried out at: a) Mediterranean Anemia unit, Venizeleio General Hospital of Heraklion, b) Mediterranean Anemia unit, General Hospital oh Chania c) via a questionnaire post in the form of a “Google form”. The sampling size was 110 patients with anemia. The tools used for this study were the structured questionnaire EQ-5D3s (EyroQol) and the structured and weighted in Greek scale HADS. Sampling was carried out in the physical presence of our research group in the transfusion units in Heraklion and Chania respectively. Meanwhile there was communication with the Greek Thalassemia Federation and questionnaires were sent via email to the rest of Greece. The data sample was comprised of women with an average age of 39,7 (8,5) years (52%) and the largest percentage was women in the age of 41-50 (46,2%). The participants in their majority exhibited normal levels of anxiety and depression. The portray of their health status in the EQvas score (“Health Condition”, or “Thermometer”) revealed that the largest percentage has a good quality of life. Whereas the correlation between anxiety and quality of life reveals that the anxiety symptoms is related to reduced levels in the quality of life dimensions instrument EQ- 5D3S. In addition there is a strong correlation between anxiety and the body mass index, despite the fact that most of the patients had a normal body mass index. Overall, in general the patients were found to have a fairly normal life resembling the standards of the general population. They are highly self-conscious of their quality of life and exhibit low levels of anxiety and depression.en
