The contemporary necessity for individualized learning and self-management of the learning process has led to the development of new learning systems such as Personal Learning Environment - PLE. Personal Learning Environments allow the students to have complete control over their learning process. A PLE is a combination of tools, people, communities, services, information sources and more generally a set of resources through which we try to direct and fulfill our learning goals. The purpose of this thesis is firstly to design and implement a prototype of a Personal Learning Environment for teachers of primary and secondary education, attending the second level training seminar on the use of ICT in education. Secondly, this dissertation investigates determinants of user's acceptance of the implemented PLE. In order to achieve this a predictive model based on an extension of Technology Acceptance Model has been developed. The survey results indicates that the most important determinants, in the interpretation of the intention to use, are the Perceived Ease of Use (PEoU), Perceived Connectedness (PC) and Perceived Usefulness (PU). These three factors account for the highest percentage of variance of intention to use the implemented application myPLE. Finally a particularly encouraging sign is that users express high levels of satisfaction regarding myPLE.
