Βιβλιογραφική ανασκόπηση των ξενικών ειδών σαλιγκαριών στην Ευρώπη.

Abstract

Η παρούσα εργασία αποτελεί βιβλιογραφική ανασκόπηση δεδομένω επί των ξενικών ειδών σαλιγκαριών τα οποία έχουν μεταφερθεί ακούσια ή εκούσια από τον άνθρωπο και τις δραστηριότητές του στην Ευρώπη γενικότερα και την Ελλάδα ειδικότερα. Στην εισαγωγή εξηγούνται οι όροι ξενικό είδος και ξενικό εισβλητικό είδος, σχολιάζεται η εκούσια και η ακούσια εισαγωγή τους, αλλά και πως η παγκοσμιοποίηση και η κλιματική αλλαγή τις διευκολύνουν. Στην συνέχεια γίνεται γενική αναφορά για τα ξενικά είδη σε Ελλάδα και Ευρώπη. Ακολουθούν οι τρόποι μεταφοράς των ξενικών ειδών: ο ενεργητικός τρόπος μεταφοράς και ο παθητικός τρόπος μεταφοράς. Εξηγείται γιατί ο παθητικός τρόπος μεταφοράς αποτελεί τον κυριότερο τρόπο εισαγωγής ξενικών ειδών σε νέα οικοσυστήματα. Παρουσιάζονται επιγραμματικά οι μέθοδοι ταυτοποίησης σαλιγκαριών, οι οποίοι είναι η παρατήρηση των μορφολογικών τους χαρακτηριστικών και η ανάλυση του γενετικού τους υλικού (ανάλυση DNA) και οι τρόποι ελέγχου του πληθυσμού τους: ο βιολογικός, ο χειρωνακτικός και ο χημικός. Γίνεται μια σύντομη επισκόπηση των σαλιγκαριών στην Ελλάδα. Στη συνέχεια αναλύεται το αντίκτυπο των ξενικών ειδών σε τομείς όπως η γεωργία, η υγεία, η διατήρηση και διαχείριση των φυσικών οικοσυστημάτων και η οικονομία. Τέλος, αναγράφονται οι σκοποί της εργασίας. Στο δεύτερο κεφάλαιο παρουσιάζεται η μεθοδολογία της βιβλιογραφικής ανασκόπησης, οι βάσεις δεδομένων που χρησιμοποιήθηκαν, οι λέξεις κλειδιά που πληκτρολογήθηκαν, αλλά και οι ιστοσελίδες με χρήσιμο περιεχόμενο. Τα αποτελέσματα της αναζήτησης παρουσιάζονται με την μορφή γραφημάτων και πινάκων στο τρίτο κεφάλαιο. Στο τέταρτο κεφάλαιο παρουσιάζονται πληροφορίες για τα πιο συχνά είδη των σαλιγκαριών που απαντήθηκαν κατά την βιβλιογραφική ανασκόπηση. Τα κοινότερα σαλιγκάρια που απαντήθηκαν σε θερμοκήπια στην Ευρώπη εκπροσωπούνται από τα: Arion vulgaris (Moquin-Tandon, 1855), Deroceras panormitanium (Lessona et Pollonera, 1882), Discus rotundatus (Müller, 1774), Zonitoides arboreus (Say, 1816), Deroceras leave (O.F. Müller, 1774). Ακόμη, δίδονται πληροφορίες για επτά είδη ξενικών σαλιγκαριών τα οποία εντοπίστηκαν κατά τη βιβλιογραφική αναζήτηση. Αυτά είναι τα: Boettgerilla pallens (Simroth, 1912), Deroceras invadens Reise, Hutchinson, Schunack & Schlitt, 2011, το Ambigolimax valentianus (A. Férussac, 1821), Hawaiia minuscula (A. Binney, 1841), Zonitoides nitidus (O. F. Müller, 1774), Discus rotundatus (Müller, 1774) και Lucilla singleyana (Pilsbry, 1889). Η εργασία ολοκληρώνεται με τα συμπεράσματα που αντλήθηκαν από τα αποτελέσματα της βιβλιογραφικής ανασκόπησης.

This thesis is a bibliographical review of the literature regarding alien species snail in Europe, which has been transported either intentionally or unintentionally. In the introduction, initially, the terms alien species and alien invasive species are clarified, as well as the terms intentional and unintentional introduction. Furthermore, it is also mentioned how globalization and climatic change enable the introduction of alien species in new ecosystems. Also, there is a brief reference to the alien species in Europe and Greece. In addition, the active and passive transportation of species are analyzed and it is explained why the passive transportation is the main way of transportation for alien species in new ecosystems. Consequently, the snail species identification methods, which are DNA analysis and through their morphological characteristics, as well as the methods used to control the alien snail species population, which are the biological, the chemical and the manual are discussed. A brief overview of the native and alien snail species in Greece follows. Then, the alien species impact on areas like agriculture, heath, preservation and management of natural ecosystems and the economy are presented. Afterwards the aims of this thesis are outlined. In the second chapter it is described how the literature on the alien snail species in Europe was found: which databases were used, which were the keywords, as well as useful websites. The results of the search are presented in the form of diagram and tables in the third chapter. The fourth and final chapter deals with information on some of the alien snail species that were mentioned in the existing literature. There are information on snails that were found in greenhouses in European countries, namely: Arion vulgaris (MoquinTandon, 1855), Deroceras panormitanium (Lessona et Pollonera, 1882), Discus rotundatus (Müller, 1774), Zonitoides arboreus (Say, 1816) and Deroceras leave (O.F. Müller, 1774. Next there are the species which were found in Europe, excluding greenhouses and crops, where information about Subulina octona (Bruguière, 1798) and Eobania vermiculata (Muller, 1774) is given. There is also information on 7 alien snail species that were found in Greece: Boettgerilla pallens (Simroth, 1912), Deroceras invadens (Reise, Hutchinson, Schunack & Schlitt, 2011), Ambigolimax valentianus (A. Férussac, 1821), snails belonging in the species Oxyloma, Hawaiia minuscula (A. Binney, 1841) and Zonitoides nitidus (O. F. Müller, 1774) rotundatus (Müller, 1774) and Lucilla singleyana (Pilsbry, 1889). The thesis concludes with the conclusions derived from the literature review results.
