Pregnancy is a period in a woman's life that is described by dramatic and abrupt changes. These changes are both physical and mental. Indeed, there is evidence that the fetus is affected by certain events that take place outside the mother's body. The psychology of the pregnant woman seems to be influenced both by the violent hormonal changes, with which the pregnancy is connected, and by the psychological pressure that the pregnancy itself exerts on the woman. (Lygnos, 2016). The term "Maternal fetal attachment" (MFA) means the mother-fetus bond and describes the emotional bond between a mother and her unborn child during pregnancy. Despite differences in definitions, theorists and researchers agree that the MFA is a multidimensional structure that includes maternal thoughts, behaviors, emotions, and attitudes. (McNamara, Townsend & Herbert, 2019) More specifically, several studies have focused on anxiety and depression and less on mental disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anorexia and personality disorders. Women with such problems are more likely to use alcohol or medication or not get enough nutrients resulting in bodily harm to the fetus. (Lewis, Austin, Knapp, Vaiano, Galbally, 2015). According to research by Axin and Brown, the parents' intentions for the upcoming pregnancy are predictive of the physical and emotional health of the children both in the short and long term. That is, women who report that their pregnancy was unwanted exhibit behaviors that adversely affect the health of the fetus, such as delayed prenatal care. Also, negative intentions for pregnancy or stress for the pregnancy itself have been linked to low birth weight or prematurity. (Iliadou & Morocco, 2014) The prenatal period extends from conception to childbirth. However, conventionally, the prenatal period itself is defined as the period up to the 28th week of pregnancy, while the perinatal period is defined as the period from the 28th week of pregnancy to the 7th day after birth. (ir.lib.uth.gr). Prenatal and perinatal psychology is an interdisciplinary science that examines the endometrial experience of man and investigates the impact it has on his life. He also reveals everything that is recorded in his consciousness from conception to the end of breastfeeding, about 3-4 years old and which are activated in his life as he grows up, decisively defining the behavior as an adult, physical health, mental balance, quality of the relationships he creates and the course of his evolution as a human being. Research in the field of prenatal psychology has turned the story of life back to the moment of conception and beyond. Recent research in the emerging field of prenatal and perinatal psychology suggests that the parent-child bond can and should begin from the moment of conception. Of course, most scientists until the middle of the 20th century were unaware of the importance of life in the womb. (Iliadou & Morocco 2014) In the case of the pregnant woman, the internal changes due to a prolonged tension also affect the fetus, putting it in a state of turmoil. Still, any manifestation of signs of introversion to avoid dealing with conflicts, internal and external, leads to a state of emotional isolation, which particularly affects the fetus. The deprivation of emotional messages resulting from this closure, due to a state of melancholy, denial or restrained aggression, acts in the fetal psychic world like a deprivation of food in its physical well-being. Many studies address the association between maternal stress and the long-term development of psychopathological behavior in the child. (Iliadou & Morocco, 2014). The hormonal disorder caused by stress in the mother (secretion of cortisol and adrenaline) has measurable effects on fetal mobility. When a woman experiences severely stressful situations for a long time during pregnancy, she is more likely to experience serious complications such as miscarriage, long, painful and premature birth. At the same time, it is possible to give birth to a child who is irritable and hyperactive, with problems with eating, sleeping and digestion. (Tika, 2017) Inadequate nutrition of the mother also has a serious effect on the development of the fetus, as shown by studies in periods of sudden or prolonged lack of food. During and immediately after the famine, there was a sharp increase in miscarriages, protests and deaths during childbirth. Those babies born alive weighed much less than normal. Even moderate malnutrition increases the risk to the fetus. The present study will try to detect the mental and physical events that affect the psychology of the fetus and which must be taken into account for the smoother outcome of pregnancy.en
